The organization of this forum in Chisinau takes place in the context of the chairmanship of the National Bank of Moldova in the group of Central and South-Eastern European countries under the leadership of the Deputy Governor of the National Bank of Moldova, Constantin Shkendrea.
This year, the focus will be on the adaptation of supervisory mechanisms to the accelerated digital transformation of the financial sector. The event program includes two days of intensive working sessions, during which the BSCEE Annual Report will be presented.
“This is a very important moment, especially considering that this is the first time the conference is being held in Chisinau since the formation of the BSCEE group. On the agenda of this meeting will be a number of relevant topics in line with current regional and global requirements. At the same time, it reflects both the maturity of our financial institutions and the country’s increasing integration into the European and regional financial supervisory community. We are also honored to see in it Mr. Toshio Tsuiki, acting Secretary General of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision,” Constantin Scandrea said on this occasion.
In addition to the discussions, the Chisinau conference will address key issues of internal management of the BSCEE Group. The participants will discuss priorities for the development of the network and proposals for amendments to the “Agreement on the Organizational and Legal Norms and Rules of Group Governance”, paying special attention to strengthening confidentiality provisions and ensuring the exchange of specialized information between Member States.
Established in 1991, the Banking Supervisors’ Group for Central and Southeast Europe (BSCEE) brings together banking supervisors from 24 countries. The main objective of the group is to foster cooperation and exchange of experience among its members, which directly contributes to regional financial stability and the convergence of supervisory practices with international standards.
