Remittances from abroad are increasing

Despite the statements of some experts that money transfers from abroad to Moldova are decreasing, the statistics show the opposite.

However, in April, indeed, the National Bank of Moldova registered a slight decline in this flow – by $1.5 million or 0.9%.

However, in the first four months of this year compared to January-April 2025, the volume of remittances increased by 26.3%, amounting to $615 million.

The greatest growth was in euros – by 29.4%, in US dollars – by 13%.

Currently, transfers in euros account for 83.5% of all receipts.

Receipts have been increasing since August 2025. Prior to that, since April 2023, there was a decrease.

Despite declines in some periods, receipts have increased by 94% over 10 years, from $316 million to $615 million.

“By and large, the inflow of foreign exchange to the citizens of the country is on the rise. At least up to the present time. And we can assume that it will remain so, at least in the medium term,” commented economist Vladimir Golovatyuk.
