The funds are intended to compensate for the additional costs of care, rehabilitation, mobility and social integration. The payment will be made automatically, without the need to submit an application.

This measure will become an annual one. Now there are 13,582 children on the list of recipients. About 41 million lei will be allocated from the state budget for the implementation of the project.

According to the legislation in force, children with disabilities up to the age of 18 receive a social allowance equivalent to the minimum pension for people with special needs. At present, the monthly allowance for children with severe disabilities amounts to 2,448.50 lei, with pronounced disabilities – 2,285.27 lei, and with medium disabilities – 1,632.34 lei.

The draft law is to be examined at the plenary session of the parliament. If adopted, the law will enter into force on June 1, 2026.
