The agency’s response to this effect appeared today on a departmental portal in response to a May 18, 2026 press release from the National Anti-Corruption Center (NAC) regarding documentation of a “systematic corruption scheme.”
According to the press release, NAC officers and the Chisinau prosecutor’s office conducted searches in the framework of a criminal case against several persons, employees of the Public Services Agency, the Causeni driver examinations and qualification department, as well as the administrator and instructors of a driving school, suspected of being involved in acts of systematic corruption.
According to the case file, “the suspects allegedly demanded and received sums of 350 to 400 euros from graduates of the driving school in order to induce them to pass the practical test for obtaining a driver’s license”.
The criminal case was initiated on the basis of reasonable suspicion of committing the offenses under Articles 324, 325 and 326 of the Criminal Code – passive corruption, active corruption, influence peddling and bribery of influence. A total of 30 persons are wanted.
The searches resulted in the seizure of allegedly forged driver’s licenses, educational documents and candidates’ practical examination results, drafts of documents, as well as electronic devices containing information relevant to the criminal case. Three people were detained for 72 hours, the rest are under investigation.
