Thermal Power Plant CET-Nord S.A. (formerly Balti CHP), has announced a tender for the installation of a 70 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) at the thermal power plant in Balti.
The tender aims to select a private partner responsible for financing, design, construction, installation and commissioning. The company has a connection permit issued by Moldelectrica, a state-owned enterprise, allowing the future energy storage system to be connected to the national electricity grid.
The Ministry of Energy emphasizes that the state will maintain its role as an intermediary in strategic investments. The procedure is open and competitive, based on transparent technical and financial criteria.
This initiative is part of Moldova’s ongoing efforts to develop energy storage infrastructure, which is essential for the efficient integration of renewable energy sources.
Earlier reported that at the end of April the country’s largest 60 MWh BESS system in Radeni with a solar plant was commissioned.
