“It was an incredible visit. I think he brought a lot of good things to the table. We made some fantastic trade deals that are beneficial to both countries,” Trump said during an event with Chinese leader Xi Jinping at the Zhongnanhai complex in Beijing, interfax.ru reported.
According to Trump, the US and China are “very similar” in their desire to end the conflict over Iran.
Trump also thanked the Chinese leader for the “really great two days” of his state visit.
For his part, Xi Jinping said the two sides had achieved “many results” during his meeting with Trump, calling the US president’s visit “historic and momentous.”
The two leaders met Friday morning at the Zhongnanhai Lake compound, where Xi Jinping explained to Trump that China’s party and government leaders, including the Chinese president himself, live.
This meeting was described by Chinese media as “small,” allowing for a more informal and frank dialog: the walk through the Zhongnanhai garden was largely conducted without the press, and afterward the heads of state headed to tea.
After tea, Trump revealed that Xi Jinping had promised to send the American president rose seeds.
“These are the most beautiful roses anyone has ever seen. I asked the president, “Could you send me some for the [White House] Rosary?” and he agreed. I’ve never seen roses that big!”, Trump said, as quoted by Sky News.
Last year, Trump renovated the White House Rose Garden, replacing the lawn with a terrace similar to the one at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida.
He has said he would like to see more roses there, and recently complained that the White House garden “doesn’t have a lot of roses.”
