Trump said this in an interview with Fox News correspondent Trey Ingst, Ingst himself wrote on the X network.

“I spoke with President Trump for 20 minutes about the situation with Iran. He talked about Project Liberty and U.S. efforts to escort merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz. He issued a new warning to Iran, saying that if the Iranians tried to attack U.S. ships in the area, quote, ‘they would be blown off the face of the earth,’ he told me,” Ingst reported on Fox News.”

Asked about how negotiations to end the war are progressing, Trump said the Iranians have allegedly become “much more cooperative.”

Trump announced the launch of Project Liberty on the evening of May 3. On May 4, Admiral Brad Cooper, head of U.S. Central Command, said the U.S. military shot down missiles and drones that Iran fired at U.S. warships and merchant ships they were escorting through the Strait of Hormuz. Trump added that the Americans also sank several Iranian gunboats.
