The planting of the orchard of this warm-loving nut crop above the 50th parallel was led by the acting director of this scientific institution Mykola Bublik and candidate of agricultural sciences Viktor Sobol. This was reported by the President of the Ukrainian Nut Association Hennadiy Yudin on his Facebook page.

For the creation of the facility used self-fruiting varieties of Spanish selection (Penta, Macaco and Laurenne). They are included in the State Register of Varieties of Ukraine. Also approbated varieties Daimar and Vairo. The garden was laid on the scheme of 5X3 meters, the formation of the crown of plants on the improved vase-type has begun.

Scientists and agrarians of Ukraine plan to develop this sector of horticulture as a highly profitable one. The creation of the garden occurred simultaneously with the government’s decision to expand the list of areas where it is possible to receive state grants for planting industrial almond plantations.

Logos Press Note : In Moldova, experts from the Center for Agricultural Advisors (CCAR) in the context of the current late April frosts considered the situation in almond plantations in the country as “delicate” – this crop during the flowering period poorly tolerates frosts of even low intensity, -1.5-2 degrees Celsius.
