This was announced following a protest that had earlier taken place in front of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (NARE) building, where participants expressed their dissatisfaction with state-owned company Energocom’s request to raise rates.

Opposition representatives believe that the rate increase lacks sufficient justification and are demanding that the agency, the Ministry of Energy, and Energocom publicly disclose the methodology used to calculate the rate, the pricing mechanism, and the arguments underlying the request for an increase.

As a reminder, the National Energy Regulatory Agency published for public comment a draft decision on the review and approval of regulated prices for the supply of natural gas by Energocom to certain categories of end users as part of its public service obligation. The draft proposes setting the tariff at 20.30 lei per m³, including VAT, instead of the current tariff of 14.42 lei per m³.
