We are talking about a bag of dark blue leather Bleu Marine Courchevel – the classic version of the iconic model. However, the key feature of the lot – not only a rare color and good preservation, and a double signature of Birkin herself, writes Euronews . On the inside of the accessory, she left an autograph and a personalized message to the first owner: “Midori Your Friend Jane”, and next to it – another signature.
The bag belonged to Midori Senga, a close friend of the actress, which reinforces its collector value. Such items with provenance and a direct link to celebrities are now considered among the most sought-after items in the luxury market.
The history of the model itself goes back to 1984, when the idea for the Birkin came about after a chance meeting between Jane Birkin and the then head of Hermès, Jean-Louis Dumas. Since then, the bag has become a status symbol and one of the most expensive in the world – on the secondary market its value often exceeds the price in boutiques.
The upcoming auction reflects a broader trend: the resale market for luxury goods is growing rapidly, and the accessories themselves are increasingly seen as investment assets. In addition to Birkin, the auction will feature pieces from Chanel and Louis Vuitton, with some lots also costing tens of thousands of euros.
Interest in such items is fueled by rarity, condition and ownership history – especially when it comes to items associated with iconic figures. Tellingly, one of the original Birkin bags was previously sold at auction for around 8 million euros, setting a record for this segment.
The auction will take place on April 23, 2026 in Dallas and will be available both offline and online for buyers from all over the world.
