Iran has lifted the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz

Ships that are not linked to "Iran's enemies" can pass through the Strait of Hormuz with the agreement of security measures with Tehran. This was stated by the representative of the Islamic Republic to the International Maritime Organization Ali Mousavi, Reuters reports.

“Diplomacy remains a priority for Iran. However, a complete cessation of aggression and mutual trust and confidence are even more important,” Ali Mousavi said. He added that the US and Israeli attacks on Iran are at the “root of the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz.”

Iran has restricted passage through the Strait of Hormuz in response to attacks by the US and Israel. On March 22, US President Donald Trump gave Tehran an ultimatum: if it does not unblock the sea corridor within 48 hours, the US military will start destroying power plants in Iran.

NBC News reported that Washington is discussing the option of seizing Iranian ports and deploying troops on small islands in the Persian Gulf to ensure safe passage of ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the forecast of the International Energy Agency (IEA), due to the conflict in the Middle East, world oil supplies will decrease by 8 million barrels per day in March. Due to Iran’s strikes on American bases located in the Gulf countries, a significant reduction in supplies is observed in Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE and Saudi Arabia.
