This statement was made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs after a new drone was detected on the territory of the country – this time in the village of Nucareni, Telenesti district, in central Moldova.
“In connection with the discovery of a drone of Russian origin on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that any drone entering the airspace or territory of the country poses a threat to national security and is a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state. Moldova condemns such violations and condemns the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, which also jeopardizes the security of our citizens. Under these risks, Moldova will continue to invest in peace and security to ensure the country’s defense and the security of its citizens,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
On Saturday, January 17, the police received a signal from a local hunter who reported that he found a drone about 2.5 meters long at the entrance to the village of Nucareni on the shore of a lake. The area was immediately isolated, and specialists from the explosive engineering department began a detailed examination of the object.
As a result, it was found to be a Gerbera model drone, like the last ones found in the country before. It does not contain explosives and poses no danger to citizens. Nevertheless, the police remind that if such objects are found, they should not be approached or touched, but should be immediately called to 112.
