The event was dedicated to the EU enlargement issues. The EU countries are to decide on a new enlargement plan, which could speed up the accession process for Moldova. No decisions have been announced yet.

If the EU resumes the initiative, the countries that are now on the path of accession will be able to enjoy the benefits of membership in the bloc, but will be deprived of the right of veto. Such a decision is expected to help Ukraine in joining the bloc to bypass Hungary’s veto. Politico quoted sources as saying.

The press service of the government publishes the message of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu to the participants of the forum, in which the head of the government expresses confidence in the ongoing processes of transformation of the country.

“Moldova is no longer a small market on the outskirts of Europe. Moldova is changing at an unprecedented pace, turning problems into impetus and difficulties into opportunities. Moldova is becoming a platform for growth, a center of digital innovations, a reliable partner in the single market and a future EU member state,” the prime minister said.

In his speech, the prime minister spoke about the economic reforms carried out by the government, which create an increasingly business-friendly environment. He noted that, despite a string of shocks, Moldova’s economy is not only stable, but is developing at an accelerated pace.

The consolidation of production, innovations and growth based on investments; acceleration of the energy transition; development of the IT sector as a dynamic growth pole; expansion of exports of high-value-added services; growth of domestic demand by increasing real wages were identified as priorities.
