According to the General Inspectorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, from February 2022 to date, 80,097 displaced persons from Ukraine have been granted temporary protection. Currently, 6,684 citizens of this country have residence permits in Moldova, of which 2,677 are permanent and 3,710 are temporary.
In the first eight months of 2025, 422 Ukrainian citizens were registered with the Employment Agency to look for work, 153 of them found jobs. 3,500 Ukrainian children enjoy temporary protection in the education system, of which 2,530 are schoolchildren.
To support the continuation of the integration process and assist Ukrainians in Moldova, the authorities extended temporary protection until March 2026.
It should be noted that the Embassy of Ukraine in Moldova together with the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is conducting a survey among ethnic Ukrainians who live in the country and are interested in obtaining Ukrainian citizenship.
“Thequestionnaire is being distributed through all foreign diplomatic institutions of Ukraine and is aimed at exploring the opinions, experiences and needs of Ukrainians in the diaspora. Participation is voluntary and anonymous, and responses will help shape decisions important to the Ukrainian community outside the country,” reports the National Congress of Ukrainians in Moldova.
