The data will be collected over the period 2025-2029 as part of the ongoing extensive project “Strengthening Trade and Competitiveness in the Eastern Partnership Countries”. The project involves several components of the OECD case study, which will be an overall assessment of the competitiveness prospects of the countries of Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus and an economic convergence scoreboard.
This assessment is conducted in the context of Moldova’s intensified efforts to integrate into the European economic space and focuses on the collection and analysis of relevant quantitative indicators in the areas of infrastructure and connectivity, business environment, digital transformation and green economy. These indicators will contribute to the development of an economic convergence scale to monitor and evaluate the progress achieved by our country on its path towards the EU.
Assistance in the collection of quantitative indicators will be provided by the state structures producing generalized statistical data in these areas, in partnership with the NBS, in order to provide internationally comparable statistics, which are necessary for an objective analysis of the situation in the business environment.
The project is funded by the European structures to support business environment reforms in the EaP countries. Also with the support of the EU through the TAIEX program a project on improvement of agricultural statistics has been launched, including for the preparation of the General Agricultural Census of the countries of the region in 2030.
