The United States supports Moldova’s sovereignty and independence
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a statement emphasizing the strengthening of relations between Washington and Chisinau, as well as the United States’ support for the sovereignty and independence of the Republic of Moldova.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of the Republic of Moldova on the anniversary of their independence. The United States is proud to continue strengthening our partnership with Moldova. Over the past year, our two countries have deepened cooperation on a range of shared priorities. We have expanded economic ties, strengthened border security, and worked together to promote stability in the region,” Rubio’s message reads.
The U.S. spokesperson stated that the United States remains firmly committed to supporting the sovereignty and independence of the Moldovan people, and conveyed to the people of the Republic of Moldova his warmest wishes for peace, prosperity, and continued progress.
A Strong Friendship with the United Kingdom
King Charles III of the United Kingdom, together with his wife, also sent a congratulatory message to President Maia Sandu and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, noting the strong ties between the two countries and the need for cooperation in the face of shared challenges.
“This day provides a valuable opportunity to reflect on the enduring friendship between our countries. I am deeply inspired by the strength of our bilateral relations and remain committed to developing even closer cooperation in the years ahead. As we face the common challenges of our time, particularly those related to climate change and environmental protection, I hope that our countries will continue to work together to find meaningful and long-term solutions.”
Bolojan: “Happy Birthday, Bessarabian Brothers”
For his part, Romania’s Acting Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan delivered a message in which he reaffirmed the close ties between Romania and the Republic of Moldova and recalled that Romania was the first country to recognise the independence of the Republic of Moldova.
“We have been and will remain the closest partner because, beyond politics, we are bound by a common language, a shared history, and a common destiny. Happy Birthday, Moldova! Happy birthday, our Bessarabian brothers,” Bolojan’s message reads.
Ivona Piorko, Head of the European Union Delegation to Moldova, emphasized support for the European aspirations of Moldovan citizens.
The EU supports the pursuit of a better life
“In June 2022, the European Union granted Moldova candidate country status—a historic decision that recognized the country’s reform efforts and commitment to European values. Since then, Moldova’s progress, despite enormous geopolitical pressure, has been truly inspiring. The EU is not merely a geographical space or an economic project. It is a community of values, security, and solidarity. And Moldova has proven that it has a place in this community.”
In this regard, Piorco addressed the citizens of the Republic of Moldova: “Your aspiration for a better life—free from corruption, free from external constraints, and full of opportunities—is exactly what the European Union stands for. As you celebrate today, know that you are not alone. The EU is your partner, your ally, and your future home.”
Kazakhstan: Ready to Strengthen Cooperation
A congratulatory message was also sent by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who congratulated Maia Sandu and the citizens of the Republic of Moldova on the 35th anniversary of independence.
His message underscores Kazakhstan’s readiness to continue strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
UAE Leadership Congratulates Moldovan Leadership
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, sent a congratulatory message to Maia Sandu, President of the Republic of Moldova, on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, as well as His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, also sent similar messages to President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Vasile Tofan on this occasion.
Congratulations on Moldova’s Independence Day continue to pour in.

The Embassy of Ukraine in Chisinau congratulated the Republic of Moldova and the Moldovan people on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Independence! The message particularly appreciates the friendship, solidarity and support that the Republic of Moldova shows towards the Ukrainian country and people.
“Our countries are united not only by a common border, but also by common values, the aspiration for peace and security, as well as a common European future. We are convinced that the Ukrainian-Moldovan partnership will continue to strengthen for the benefit of both states and our peoples. We wish the Republic of Moldova peace, prosperity and new successes, and the friendly Moldovan people — well-being, unity and confidence in the future! Happy Birthday, Republic of Moldova!”
The Embassy of the French Republic also sent a congratulatory message reaffirming its friendship and support:
“The path taken by the Republic of Moldova, as a sovereign and democratic state, is worthy of admiration. The French soldiers who are marching today in Chisinau, led by the commander of the 12th Cuirassiers Regiment, express our common aspiration for a united, free and peaceful Europe.”
