“I strongly identify with the vision of Mr. Vasile Tofan, the new Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, regarding the country’s future: Moldova must become the most attractive country for entrepreneurs. He understands that the state does not solve economic problems—at best, it merely manages them, and more often than not, it exacerbates them when it intervenes in the economy. Wealth and prosperity must first be created before the state can redistribute them. And the conditions necessary for this are precisely the values of the free market, which have proven their effectiveness wherever they have been applied,” said Năsui.
According to him, the necessary reforms cannot be replaced by populist solutions:
“In politics, it’s easy to please people—at least as long as you’re in power and can choose the easy path of populism, paid for with taxpayers’ money. It is much harder to say that this cannot go on indefinitely, because otherwise the cost of such policies will condemn the country to stagnation. Prime Minister Tofan could have easily continued his successful career, but he chose the difficult task of implementing the reforms necessary for the Republic of Moldova to prosper and successfully navigate a turning point in the country’s future—accession to the European Union.”
Resigning from Parliament to Support Reforms in Moldova
Năsui also explained his decision to give up his seat in the Romanian Parliament in order to work in the government of the Republic of Moldova:
“This step means relinquishing my seat in the Romanian Parliament and dedicating my experience to a new reform project designed to complete the process of liberalization and privatization that began after the fall of communism. Prime Minister Tofan has taken on the difficult but honorable task of leading his country in the right direction: toward freedom and closer ties with Romania and Europe.”
He noted that the economic development of the Republic of Moldova is closely linked to its relations with Romania and the European course of both countries.
“I am pleased to take on this mission with optimism, enthusiasm, and confidence that a more prosperous economy in Moldova also means a more prosperous economy in Romania—on our shared European path,” Năsui wrote on social media.
