The exhibition will open at 10:00 a.m. in the exhibition space on the first floor of the main building of the National Library.
The exhibition is structured as a documentary retrospective of key stages in the modern history of the Republic of Moldova. It features books, periodicals, archival documents, and photographs from the National Library’s documentary heritage.
Separate thematic sections are devoted to the national revival of 1988–1990, the return to the Latin alphabet, the Great National Assembly of August 27, 1989, and the “Bridges of Flowers.”
Another section covers August 27, 1991—the adoption of the Declaration of Independence against the backdrop of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the formation of the new state.
The exhibition also features materials on the national symbols of the Republic of Moldova, the Constitution, the first passport, and the introduction of the national currency.
Separate sections are devoted to the Transnistrian conflict and the defense of the country’s territorial integrity, as well as Moldova’s political and institutional development, culture, education, migration, and the diaspora.
Another section details the Republic of Moldova’s European orientation, including documents on cooperation with European countries and the process of European integration.
The National Library will display 200 documents to mark the 35th anniversary of Moldova’s independence.
