The government has approved draft amendments to the Law on Industrial Parks. Once lawmakers return from recess, the document will be considered and voted on in parliament.
One of the draft’s key proposals calls for including government agencies among the entities that will be able to initiate the creation of industrial parks and, under certain conditions, manage them.
“This applies not only to private entities, such as limited liability companies, but also to government agencies. In this context, I can cite our institutions as an example—both within the government and in the academic sphere, particularly universities,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugen Osmochescu.
In addition, the draft provides for the possibility of including agricultural or special-purpose land in Category B industrial parks.
“Of course, this must not conflict with the provisions of the Land Code, but an exception is provided for Category B parks, provided that the requirements of the Land Code are met,” noted the Deputy Prime Minister.
According to the authorities, the proposed changes will allow for the creation of specialized models of industrial parks and more efficient use of land for investment purposes.
It should be noted that, under current legislation, a Category B industrial park is a specialized park within the territory of which permitted types of interrelated economic activities are carried out, primarily in the fields of digital and innovative technologies, information technology and telecommunications, creative technologies, research and development, engineering, and related areas.
