This was reported by the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED). The center specifies that 99 free energy audits were conducted as part of the program to improve the energy efficiency of the housing stock. Seventy-eight condominium owners’ associations are involved in the process, and 15 of these projects have been approved for funding.
The FEERM state program has a budget of over 1.4 billion lei through 2027 and aims to renovate at least 507,000 square meters of housing, 50% of which is in multi-story residential buildings.
“Energy efficiency is one of the most direct investments in reducing utility bills. Such renovations mean lower energy consumption (by 62%), better housing, and less strain on the family budget,” notes Vitalie Mîța, State Secretary of the Ministry of Energy.
Grants for the renovation of high-rise buildings cover up to 70% of the costs, with homeowners contributing the remaining 30%. And for families vulnerable to energy costs, this contribution may be offset by subsidies ranging from 15% to 90%, provided by the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund.
