The government today arranged for the transfer of four more motor pumps to the capital’s city hall and “Apă Canal” in preparation for a crisis on the Dniester. The decision was made following a request sent last week to the Cabinet of Ministers by the Chisinau authorities.

“Throughout this entire period, I have been in direct talks with Prime Minister Vasil Tofan,” Mayor Ion Ceban noted today during the weekly meeting of municipal services. “I thanked him for his openness and informed him about the pumps provided from the state reserve.”

As Logos Press previously reported, the government is transferring five units to boost the capacity of the water intake station—with a total capacity of 5,200 m³/h—so that the capital’s city administration is prepared in the event of a potential crisis. One motor pump was handed over to the municipality on Friday.

Prime Minister Vasile Tofan appealed to all agencies under the jurisdiction of both the government and the Chisinau City Hall, urging them to cooperate as much as possible to ensure the capital’s water supply in the event of a hydrological crisis.

For his part, Mayor Ion Ceban reported on the measures taken at the water intake station. Over the past two weeks, additional work has been carried out at Vadul-lui-Vodă, including the construction of a dam, to maintain the water level at the station.
