“In 21 of the 27 EU countries, the death rate exceeds the birth rate,” the businessman emphasized on his page on the social media platform X. “They are on the path to extinction.”
Musk’s comment was prompted by UN fertility data published for the world’s largest economies, including the United Kingdom, South Korea, France, Germany, the United States, and Japan. According to the statistics, these countries have seen a steady decline in birth rates since 1950.
Last spring, Elon Musk called the global decline in birth rates a threat to civilization.
