Zelenskyy’s talks with Trump lasted just over an hour, and although the details have not yet been disclosed, the Ukrainian leader himself called the meeting “good” and reported that one of the topics discussed was a license to manufacture Patriot interceptor missiles.

“Thank you for everything we’re doing together to protect the lives of Ukrainians and achieve peace. We discussed with the president the license to produce interceptors for the Patriot system and some other ideas that could help,” Euronews quoted Zelenskyy as saying.

“It is important to intensify the diplomatic process. Our teams will work out the details of further cooperation. I am grateful to the United States for its steadfast support,” he added.

During the meeting at the White House, Zelenskyy expressed his condolences to Donald Trump on the death of Senator Lindsey Graham. According to Zelenskyy, “he was a true friend of Ukraine.”

Relations between Zelenskyy and Trump have improved in recent weeks. In early July, at the NATO summit in Ankara, Trump offered Kyiv licenses to manufacture Patriot anti-aircraft missiles and stated that Ukrainian strikes on targets within Russia could help bring the war to an end.
