Google Fined

On Thursday, the European Commission fined the American tech giant Google 890 million euros for two violations of the Digital Markets Act (DMA)—this is the largest total fine to date, imposed under EU rules governing large tech companies.

The fine—the first imposed on Google under the DMA—amounts to 460 million euros for giving Google’s own services preferential treatment in its search engines and 430 million euros for tactics designed to prevent the redirection of search queries used in the Android app store.

At a press briefing on Thursday, two senior Commission officials stated that Google’s violations took place between March 2024 and December 2025, according to European sources.
