The parliament adopted the relevant amendments to the law “On Veterans” in the second reading.
Until now, there was a norm that effectively excluded working veterans and entrepreneurs from receiving sanatorium vouchers at the expense of the state. The adopted amendments remove this restriction.
According to the new rules, labor veterans will be able to receive a voucher for treatment once every three years – either through the compulsory medical insurance system at their place of work or as labor veterans.
According to the data provided in the Parliament, there are more than 120 thousand labor veterans in Moldova, of which about 83 thousand continue to work.
The authors of the initiative from the faction of the ruling PAS party claim that the previous division was discriminatory. It is noted that a working veteran should not lose the right to social support just because of the fact of employment or running a business.
Last year, according to the same data, about 5,000 sanatorium vouchers worth over 57 million lei were used in the country.
