In order to improve the efficiency of waste management, the government proposed to recognize works on the development of regional waste management infrastructure as objects of public utility of national importance.
This decision will allow accelerating the realization of the project “Solid Waste in the Republic of Moldova”. It provides for simplification of administrative and authorization procedures in order to accelerate the implementation of this strategic environmental project and eliminate bureaucratic obstacles.
In particular, it concerns infrastructure in the following localities: Cahul, Cania (Cantemir district), Taraclia, Comrat, Cimislia, Leova, Iargara, Sălcuţa (Causeni district), Feştelita (Stefan-Voda district), Sherpeni (Anenii Noi district), Bolohani (Orhei district), Hincesti, Straseni, Costesti (Ialoveni district), Florizoaia Veke (Ungheni district), Nisceani (Calarasi district), Nisporeni; Bilicenii Noi (district Sîngerei), Riscani, Red-Chereşnovac and Cristici (district Soroca), Soroca town, Parcani (district Soldanesti); Dondiusani, Briceni, Edinet, as well as Chisinau.
The formation of integrated regional systems of collection, sorting, processing and utilization should replace the prevailing practice of waste disposal as the most accessible but environmentally inefficient solution.
The draft law will be submitted to the Parliament for consideration.
