“They have plans to repurpose their factories. We’re going to produce weapons, including Patriot and Tomahawk systems, as well as many others,” he told reporters at the White House.
According to the American leader, the U.S. government is launching a large-scale economic campaign to boost weapons production, which is why automakers with spare capacity are signing contracts to manufacture missiles.
“They’re working with General Motors, they’re working with Ford; I know that General Motors is very interested in weapons production,” the White House chief concluded.
As reported by the American media, the conflict with Iran has significantly depleted U.S. arsenals and created a risk in the event of new wars.
In April, CNN reported that in just seven weeks, the U.S. had used up nearly half of its Patriot missile stockpile and about 30 percent of its Tomahawk missiles.
According to analysts, it will take several years to replenish these stockpiles.
