According to the National Bank, there are currently 3.86 million bank cards in circulation, which is 444.5 thousand cards more compared to the same period in 2024.
The total number of transactions by bank cards increased by 27% over the year, while the volume of payments – by 20%.
Two banks issued the most cards – Moldindconbank (1.51 million) and maib (1.41 million). Out of the total number of bank cards in circulation, 1.7 million are serviced by Visa International payment system. MasterCard has 2.1 million cards, while American Express has 2.3 thousand.
According to the regulator, since the beginning of 2025, 1.3 thousand ATMs (+50 units) and 46 thousand POS-terminals (+ 8.3 thousand) operate in Moldova.
