The project, developed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, aims to harmonize national regulations with European Union legislation and to provide more support to young people in career guidance.
This change is a response to the need for early intervention to prevent social exclusion and reduce the risk of adolescents falling into the NEET category (young people who are not in education, employment or training). Statistics for 2025 show that the share of NEET youth is 27.9% among 15-34 year olds.
At the same time, the data indicate a significant financial dependence of young people on their parents.
According to the information for 2025, young people aged 14-34 years make up 544 thousand people, or 22.8% of the total population, while their number decreased by 23.7 thousand people, i.e. by 4.2% over the year.
