The Government and Mastercard Are Launching a Partnership to Digitalize the Economy and Public Services

The Government of the Republic of Moldova and the international payment company Mastercard have announced the launch of the Digital Country Partnership program—a collaborative initiative aimed at supporting the digital transformation of the economy, modernizing public services, and expanding financial inclusion.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, the partnership involves leveraging the company’s expertise and technologies to implement projects in the areas of electronic payments, the digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises, the development of government services, and the formulation of data-driven public policy.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugen Osmocescu stated that the partnership should help expand access to digital services and support entrepreneurs as part of the government’s efforts to accelerate the country’s digital transformation.

For her part, Irina Untile, Vice President of Mastercard and Head of the company’s representative office in Moldova, noted that the initiative aims to support the development of the digital economy and expand access to modern digital services and tools for various user groups.

According to the information provided, the program will focus on five key areas: developing the digital economy and the relevant regulatory framework, the digital transformation of small and medium-sized enterprises; increasing the participation of freelancers and independent professionals in the digital economy; developing public policy based on research and data analysis; and modernizing consular services and cross-border government payments.

Authorities note that specific projects to be implemented within the framework of the partnership, with the participation of government agencies and private-sector representatives, will be identified in the near future.
