The Cabinet of Ministers approved a decision on the organization and functioning of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The expansion of the staff and redistribution of functions affects practically all key areas of the ministry’s activity.
“The adoption of this decision is conditioned by a constant increase in the workload of the Foreign Ministry, caused by the advancement of Moldova’s accession to the European Union, intensification of external cooperation and increase in the number of international agreements and consular affairs,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.
In order to efficiently respond to these changes and ensure institutional functionality, the decision envisages a number of point structural adjustments, including:
- creation of the Service for Relations with Romania;
- the creation of the Cyber Diplomacy Service;
- reorganization of the Economic Diplomacy Office in line with the best practices of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the European Union member States.
It is noted that the volume of the agency’s activities has increased by more than 20% over the past year.
