Participants include personnel from infantry and artillery units of the National Army, representatives of the General Directorate of Gendarmerie of the Ministry of the Interior, as well as personnel from the Romanian Army and the North Carolina National Guard of the United States.

In this context, during the specified period, military equipment will be transported along national roads to the training centres where the exercises will take place. The transport will be carried out at night so as not to disrupt road traffic.

The exercises are taking place at training centres of military units in the northern, central and southern garrisons and are aimed at enhancing operational interoperability between the participating contingents.

The ‘Fire Shield’ exercises have been held annually since 2015.
