The duty free zone at the airport has come under direct management

The press service of the state-owned company said in a statement that the activity is being carried out as part of the process of modernizing the airport’s infrastructure. “We realize that this transition period may create some temporary inconveniences and guarantee that the airport team will make all necessary efforts to make this transition smooth and efficient,” the press release said.

The statement came after the evacuation of a store in the airport’s retail area, which had previously operated in duty free mode, began.

When asked by InfoMarket agency, the head of the Public Property Agency Roman Cojuhari said that the tenant company had expired the contract for the lease of these commercial areas, and from May 1 they will be managed directly by Chisinau Airport.

At the same time, he specified that the issue of holding a tender for leasing these commercial premises is not discussed in the near future. According to him, it will take some time to analyze whether and at what price these premises should be offered for rent.

Recall that since March 1, all catering areas at the airport have already been transferred to the management of the enterprise administration, and the owner of the restaurants Plai (2nd floor), Aero Cafe and Business Lounge, the company Aerofood, has removed its equipment from the airport.
