Moldova Tax Revenues Rise 12.6% in First Five Months of 2026

Tax revenues to the budget increased by 12.6%

According to operative information, the national public budget (NPB) revenues, administered by the State Tax Service, amounted to about 35.4 billion lei in the first 5 months of 2026. This is by 4 billion lei, or 12.6% more compared to the same period last year.

If we break down this total figure by components of the NBB, the picture is as follows. The share of revenues to the state budget is 3% higher than the overall growth rate, while the rest of the budget – local budgets, as well as social and health insurance funds – revenues are lower by about 2%.

Thus, from January to May 2026, the state budget received about 14.8 billion lei – by 2 billion lei or 15.6% more compared to the same period in 2025.

Revenues of local budgets amounted to 3.9 billion lei – by 12.3% more compared to the same period of the previous year.

The social insurance budget collected about 12.4 billion lei during the analyzed period. This indicator increased by about 10.2%.

The growth of revenues to the funds of compulsory health insurance is slightly less. Contributions for 5 months of this year exceeded last year’s by 10.0% and reached 4.2 billion lei.
