The publication notes that as part of the investigation, searches were conducted at the suspects’ residences, in their offices, and in their vehicles.
According to investigators, university officials may have demanded and received money from students in exchange for helping them pass tests and exams without actually attending classes or taking the required assessments.
Investigators have documented several instances of receiving money from students, including foreign nationals, in exchange for various advantages in the academic process.
In addition, information regarding the possible production and sale of thesis papers for money is being investigated. According to preliminary data, the cost of a single thesis could reach 10,000 lei.
The deans of the faculties were detained for 72 hours. The investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officials are establishing all the circumstances of the case and identifying possible participants in the scheme.
