As noted in the company’s press release, earlier uranium mining was carried out by the joint venture YUGHK, 70% of which belongs to Uranium One (part of Rosatom) and 30% to Kazatomprom.

At the end of the contract, the Akdala deposit is expected to have about 1.5 thousand tons of undeveloped uranium reserves. In order to fully exploit them, work must continue until 2030 to prevent suspension or disruption of the technological process.

Kazatomprom’s report emphasizes that the company is considering the possibility of obtaining a new subsoil use contract for the Akdala deposit in order to maintain its production potential.

“Kazatomprom is the world’s largest uranium producer. In 2024, its share in global production amounted to about 21%.
