Ilie Bolozhan
Within his visit to Chisinau, Romanian Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan is also expected to participate in the event. The officials will discuss joint projects between Moldova and Romania, as well as possibilities to speed up their implementation.
“Romania has been and remains our main strategic partner and an important supporter of the development of Moldova’s settlements. Together with our Romanian colleagues, we will continue discussing all the projects we have initiated. As you know, we have a lot of common cases and this will be a great opportunity to discuss and possibly accelerate their progress,” Munteanu said at the beginning of the government meeting on Wednesday, May 27.
He expressed confidence that this event will “clearly demonstrate that the local public administration reform means better services, bigger investments and stronger communities – all for the benefit of our citizens”.
According to the head of the executive branch, more than 500 town halls have already initiated the process of voluntary unification (amalgamation):
“This shows that more and more communities realize: development comes through cooperation, efficiency and higher administrative capacity.”
Recall that currently the process of amalgamation of localities is voluntary, and from the fall it is planned to make it normative.
Recall that the Romanian government headed by Ilie Bolojan resigned as a result of a vote of no confidence initiated by opposition forces. The political crisis escalated after the PSD left the coalition and disagreements on economic policy, including budget consolidation measures and reforms.
