The establishment of this structure is intended to intensify cooperation in such strategic areas as economy, agriculture, ecology and energy.

The main objective of the commission is to develop bilateral relations and enhance the exchange of experience at the local and regional level. In addition, the partnership will focus on cooperation within the framework of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, including areas such as internal security, culture and education.

The Moldovan team, which will be led by Osmochescu as chair, also includes Ambassador-at-Large Oleg Ciulia (deputy chair) and Tatiana Cerquez from the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization (secretary). The structure also included representatives from a number of other ministries.

The meetings of the commission will be held, as a rule, once every two years, alternately in Moldova and Baden-Württemberg. The costs of organizing them in Moldova will be covered within the budget of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization.

It should be recalled that the foundations for the expansion of cooperation between Moldova and Baden-Wurttemberg were laid in 2024, during the visit to Chisinau of the German Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann. Cemir Ozdemir became the new prime minister of the state on May 13 this year.

There are about 435 enterprises with German capital operating in Moldova, with investments in the authorized capital amounting to about 1.154 billion lei, equivalent to about 57.2 million euros. In terms of invested capital, Germany ranks 5th among the main investors in the Republic of Moldova.
