Moldovan government requires institutions to reduce transportation costs by 20%

On Friday, Moldovan Prime Minister urged state institutions to set "an example of discipline and responsibility". He asked them to cut transportation costs by 20% amid rising fuel prices.

Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu said the state should be the first to demonstrate discipline and responsibility.

“In a tense international economic environment and with growing pressure on energy and fuel prices, the state should be the first to set an example of financial discipline and responsibility towards public funds,” Alexandru Munteanu wrote on Facebook.

He states that he asked all budgetary bodies and institutions to establish strict control over expenditures. He also asked them to revise the procurement plans for 2026.

The head of the government said that the purchases that are not of critical necessity will be reduced by at least 10%, while the expenses for official transportation and the number of vehicles will be reduced by at least 20%.
