The high-level dialogue with the IMF is taking place in the context of the Chisinau authorities’ request to launch a new three-year program with the Fund without a financial component. The decision to opt for a non-financial instrument, according to the authorities, reflects the improved macroeconomic situation in Moldova, which no longer justifies the need for emergency financing.

“The continuation of cooperation with the Fund is a strategic element of Moldova’s European path and will help the national authorities to speed up key reforms and attract foreign investments,” National Bank Governor Anca Dragu emphasized.

This was reported by the departmental press service. The program of the visit includes a series of meetings with representatives of the IMF, the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and other international financial organizations.

The agenda of the Moldovan delegation includes discussions on the national macroeconomic prospects, the implementation of the recommendations of the Financial Sector Assessment Program for 2025. They will also discuss the consolidation of the National Bank of Moldova’s independence and the institution’s role in the European integration process, including the implementation of the reform program linked to Moldova’s economic growth plan for 2025-2027.
