
This was reported by the Foreign Ministry’s press service, specifying that on May 15, Moldova will host the 135th ministerial session of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers, which is expected to be attended by more than 50 delegations from the member states, including more than 20 foreign ministers.
The solemn event to mark the end of the mandate will be held at the Palace of the Republic and will include such topics as “continuing support for Ukraine with a focus on post-war responsibility and reconstruction, combating disinformation and foreign interference, strengthening security and enhancing the sustainability of democracy”, the organizers of the event specify the agenda.
The foreign ministers will also “discuss the Democratic Pact for Europe, the future foreign policy strategy of the Council of Europe, migration, as well as strengthening international cooperation and multilateralism,” the ministry said.
The official opening of the ministerial session will start with a speech by Moldovan President Maia Sandu, a speech by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihai Popşoi and a speech by Council of Europe Secretary General Alain Berset, who is also scheduled to attend the meeting in Chisinau.
After the handover ceremony at the Foreign Ministry, Deputy Prime Minister and Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Popşoi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Principality of Monaco, Isabelle Berro-Amadei, as well as the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, will hold a joint press conference.
