Cabinet members took this step after the Social Democratic Party decided to withdraw its support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

At the same time, the government assured that it remains capable. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan said he has taken into account the resignations of ministers and identified their successors.

“Taking into account that the government should work without interruptions, mastering funds and solving all issues, we will send proposals to the president for ministerial candidates,” he was quoted by European Truth as saying by Digi24.

Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neatsu will be replaced by Oana Gheorghiu, he also said.

Earlier, media reported that Romania’s ruling coalition faced problems in governance. On Monday, members of Romania’s Social Democratic Party called on Ilie Bolojan to resign. The party disagrees with the government’s tight budget policy and poor coordination between partners.

Instead, the prime minister announced his plans to start talks with coalition parties to form a minority government.
