CCI proposes to set a ceiling on retro bonuses

Sergiu Harya

He said that this measure is necessary to protect Moldovan enterprises from unfair competition and to preserve domestic products on the market.

“Now there are unfair trade practices, when retail chains introduce so-called “retro bonuses”, which reach 25-30 percent. In Romania, when the EU Directive on unfair commercial practices was implemented – and it is mandatory for all EU countries, and if we want to become members, we must also implement it – the amount of retro bonuses was limited to 10 percent,” Harya told Rlive.

He said that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry has already presented its arguments and proposals to the EU delegation in Moldova, to the Economics and Digitalization Ministry and to the relevant parliamentary commission. The relevant draft law has already been elaborated and it fully complies with the European directive.

“In this draft, we insist on limiting retro bonuses, as domestic companies often find themselves in unfair competition, and as a result we risk remaining on the market only with imported goods,” Sergiu Harya said.

He also expressed hope that the new government will return to the finalization and implementation of the national program of support and promotion of domestic producers.
