The sides also signed a framework agreement on cooperation on the TRIPP project, a framework memorandum on mining and processing of minerals and rare earth minerals,” News.am writes.

The signing ceremony took place at Yerevan’s Zvartnots airport. Secretary of State Rubio arrived in the Armenian capital with his wife Janet for several hours. Rubio made a working visit to Yerevan on his way from India to Washington.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in a joint statement with Marco Rubio that Armenia and the United States have raised the strategic partnership to a new level, renaming it a comprehensive strategic partnership.

“The comprehensive strategic relationship between our two countries is stronger today than ever before. It would not be an exaggeration to say that we have entered a historically unprecedented stage, given the frequent periodic developments in our bilateral agenda,” Mirzoyan said, quoted by Armenpress.

According to the Foreign Minister, the new document is enriched with new opportunities, particularly in terms of cooperation in artificial intelligence and other spheres. Earlier, Armenia and the US have already signed and committed themselves in the spheres of artificial intelligence, semiconductors and nuclear energy, and a new document on minerals and critical minerals was also signed.

Mirzoyan also praised the role of the U.S. President’s administration in the peacebuilding process in the South Caucasus.

“I want to emphasize this again and commend the role and dedication of President Trump and his entire administration, Secretary of State Rubio and everyone else in the peacebuilding process in the South Caucasus and in creating not only security but also new economic opportunities for Armenia,” he said.

Recall, on June 7, Armenia will hold elections to the National Assembly, the country’s parliament.
