According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), the total amount of grants approved is almost $3.47 million. The grants range from $0.42-1 million (the maximum limit stipulated in the AGGRI regulations).

The selected projects envisage investments in modernization of farms specializing in milk production, infrastructure development, introduction of advanced technologies and methods of livestock management.

At the last meeting of the Evaluation and Selection Committee, six applications submitted for funding under Component II of the AGGRI project were analyzed. “All evaluated applications scored at least 60 points, which is the minimum eligibility threshold, and were approved for funding,” the ministry said in a statement.

Four of the projects are cow milk production, from animals of high-yielding breeds: Holstein, Jersey and Simmental. One project involves the breeding of Assaf sheep, and the second is the production of goat milk from Murciano-Granadina animals.

The projects are realized in five districts of the country: two projects in Cahul district, and the rest in Hincesti, Ocnita, Anenii Noi and Floresti districts.

The AGGRI project is financed by the World Bank and implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry through the agricultural project implementation unit UCIMPA.
