The office of the Straseni District Chairman has issued a tender for the work of overhauling and upgrading the local road on a 1.4 km stretch.
The project provides for the construction of a new two-lane asphalt concrete pavement with a 6.5-meter width, reinforcement of the road’s base, organization of a drainage system for rain and melt water, reinforcement of roadsides with crushed stone and installation of road signs to improve traffic safety. The cost of the project is almost 11 million lei.
The road section, passing through the picturesque forest area of Codre, is in unsatisfactory condition: the crushed stone pavement is broken, there are potholes and irregularities, and the drainage system is completely absent, which hampers access to the monastery, especially in unfavorable weather. This creates serious inconveniences for numerous visitors and pilgrims.
The Tsiganesti Monastery was founded around 1725 and today it is an important pilgrimage center.
According to legend, the spring located on the territory of the monastery has healing properties.
