The initiative aims to make energy efficiency more accessible to people’s daily lives through clear explanations and simple tips that are easy to apply in every household, the ministry said in a news release.
The timing of the campaign launch was not chosen by chance. The campaign starts right after the end of the heating season, when people have already experienced the winter bills and have a clear reference point.
Marco Büchel, component manager of the GIZ E4M project, which supports the implementation of energy efficiency projects in Moldova, emphasizes the importance of ensuring that efforts to reduce and improve the efficiency of energy consumption come from all stakeholders. So that the state provides leverage and citizens are oriented towards responsible consumption: “Moldova is still highly dependent on energy imports, and recent developments have revealed the vulnerability of households to crises and price fluctuations. In this context, Germany, through GIZ, reaffirms its support for Moldovan citizens by investing in measures that promote energy efficiency and reduce the burden on budgets in the long term. And it is particularly important that all stakeholders are united in achieving the same goal,” he emphasized.
Interactive and gaming context of the campaign
At the heart of the campaign will be a series of mini-videos published on YouTube, consisting of 6 episodes that will be released monthly until October 2026. In each episode, Nea Valera, played by Valeriu Rascu, together with energy efficiency expert Ina Borozan, will visit real households to analyze the consumption, living conditions and daily habits that affect energy bills, concretely showing where energy is “lost” and what simple solutions can make a difference without large investments.
The campaign also includes an interactive component. Interested people can register to receive an analysis directly in their homes and recommendations tailored to their situation.
People interested in analyzing their consumption and receiving personalized recommendations can apply through the National Center for Sustainable Energy platform.
