Bomb disposal experts defused 21 explosive devices dating from the war

In June, the National Army’s bomb disposal unit conducted 14 demining operations across the country, during which 21 explosive devices left over from World War II were discovered and neutralized.

The operations were carried out in Chisinau and in the districts of Ungheni, Stefan Voda, Căușeni, Leova, Cimișlia, Ialoveni, Anenii Noi, and Cahul at the request of local authorities and the relevant agencies.

Since the beginning of the year, bomb disposal experts have carried out 66 demining operations, resulting in the discovery and neutralization of 182 explosive devices.

The Ministry of Defense notes that since 1992, 25 people have been killed and another 29 injured as a result of explosions involving various types of munitions. Of the total number of victims, eight children were killed and another six were injured.

The most recent fatal incident involving an explosive occurred on June 30 in the village of Gura Galbenei in the Chimishli District.
