Russian retail chains have stopped carrying Raffaello, Nutella, and Ferrero Rocher

The X5 Group, which operates the “Pyaterochka” and “Perekrestok” retail chains, has suspended purchases of products from Italy’s Ferrero Group. The company cited the supplier’s “unjustifiably high selling prices” as the reason for the decision.

Products from brands such as Kinder, Raffaello, Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac, and Bueno have been subject to restrictions.

X5 stated that the commercial terms proposed by the supplier do not comply with the principles of fair pricing, according to RBC.

“We do not intend to subsidize the manufacturer at our own expense.”

“The manufacturer’s profit margin built into the wholesale prices far exceeds the profitability of the retailer, which ensures stable access to customers across the country and invests in logistics and infrastructure. We consider this imbalance unjustified and do not intend to subsidize it at our own expense or pass the cost on to consumers,” the company said.

According to X5, the current payment terms also do not align with the Ferrero Group’s sales velocity, making cooperation under the current conditions economically unprofitable.

X5 emphasized that it had repeatedly offered the supplier the opportunity to revise the commercial terms, but the parties were unable to reach an agreement. At the same time, the company stated its readiness to resume cooperation if the terms are brought to a “fair level.”

According to X5’s estimates, the current stock of Ferrero products in “Pyaterochka” and “Perekrestok” stores will last “just over a month.” At the same time, the company is negotiating with Russian manufacturers and suppliers from friendly countries to expand its assortment of confectionery products.

Marsproducts have also beendiscontinued

This is already the second such conflict between X5 and a major international confectionery manufacturer in the past year. In July 2025, the retailer suspended purchases of some Mars products for similar reasons, including Snickers, Twix, Bounty, Mars, Milky Way, M&M’s, Skittles, Orbit, and other brands. At the time, Mars expressed regret over X5’s decision and stated its intention to find a mutually beneficial solution. A few weeks later, the parties were able to agree on new commercial terms and resumed their partnership.
