
“The parliamentary majority and the finance minister must abandon this bill, which contains a whole series of utterly unpopular measures that will lead us into even greater poverty,” said Vasile Costiuc, leader of the “Democrația Acasă” party.
“The worst part is that this money will not go to the state budget, but to export companies—those who control the markets,” said MP Sergiu Stefanco.
The protesters called on the authorities to change their priorities:
“When they draft laws and make decisions, they need to think first and foremost about the people and the national interest.”
Protesters spoke about the heavy tax burden, which in some cases exceeds 100% of small business owners’ actual income, threatening their very survival.
As of the publication of this article, government representatives had not commented on the protest or the demonstrators’ demands.
